Dear Parent/Guardian
The SEC is excited to host our school social on Thursday, 18 September 2025, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm!
The theme is “Country and Western”, we encourage students to dress the part and get ready for a fun evening with music, dancing, and great company.
Important Details:
- Invitations will be extended to students who consistently uphold our school values and expectations.
- Doors close at 6:40pm, so please arrive on time. Late arrivals must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to see the teacher in charge.
- The social ends at 9:00pm. Please ensure your child is collected promptly.
Cost & Food:
- Entry is free!
- Food and drinks will be available for purchase on the night. A menu will be shared closer to the date.
Consent Form:
Please complete the online consent form by Friday, 12 September 2025. You’ll be asked to indicate:
- Whether your child will be collected at 9:00pm or has permission to walk home.
- Agreement to collect your child promptly if they do not meet behavioural expectations during the event.
- If you have completed a consent form and your child can no longer attend (e.g. due to illness), please let the school office know by calling 6442 2385.

Child Studies - Boat Harbour Primary School Visit
Dear Parent/Guardian
Your child has been invited to participate in a visit to Boat Harbour Primary School on Wednesday, 10 and Wednesday, 17 September 2025. During these visits, students will have the opportunity to observe and engage with Prep/Year 1 students as part of their Child Studies learning. This experience will help them explore how young children learn through play and interaction in a real-world setting.
Students will depart from Wynyard High School at 1:30pm and return by 3:00pm. Transportation will be provided via bus directly to Boat Harbour Primary School. The bus will be driven by a Wynyard High School staff member.
Please ensure your child wears their full school uniform for this occasion.
As this is a minor excursion and you signed permissions earlier in the year, no permission form is required. Although if yours or your child’s circumstances have changed, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mikayla House at mikayla.house1@decyp.tas.gov.au or on 6442 2385.

After School Athletics
Dear Parent/Guardian
Trent Nicholls will be facilitating an after-school athletics conditioning and mobility training program every Thursday from 3:10pm to 4:30pm (during school terms). These sessions are appropriate for students in Years 7 to 10 who want to develop their knowledge and skills in this area. The program will take place in Wynyard High School’s gym, weights room, student centre and oval. Each session will follow the structure of a warm-up, skill adaption, body of work and warm down.
The first session for Term 3 will commence on Thursday, 31 July 2025
All students will meet in the school gym at the start of each session, where further instructions will be provided. Students are required to bring an appropriate change of clothes and drink bottle. They must also arrange their own transport at the conclusion of each session. In the event a session is to be cancelled, parents/guardians will be notified.

Quad Bikes Unit
Dear Parent/Guardian
On Tuesday, 19 August 2025, students enrolled in the Horticulture Certificate II program will be attending a full-day Quad Bike Training Unit at TasTAFE. This training is a compulsory component of their course and is designed to provide essential skills in safe quad bike operation.
Students will be transported from Wynyard High School via the school minibus, departing promptly at 8:00am. The training session will conclude at 4:00pm, with students returning to the school by approximately 4:30pm.
To ensure students are prepared for the day, they are required to bring at least one litre of drinking water, a nutritious packed lunch and/or snacks, and appropriate clothing for varying weather conditions. This includes warm layers, a sun-safe hat, and a waterproof coat. Students must also wear closed-toe work boots and suitable workwear. Helmets and gloves will be provided as part of the training.
As this is a major excursion, parent or guardian permission is required. Please complete the electronic permission form via the following link: Quad Bike Unit - Permission Form
All permission forms must be submitted no later than Monday, 18 August. Without this consent, students will not be able to participate in the training.

Year 9/10 Northwest Badminton Gala Day
Dear Parent/Guardian
Your child has indicated their interest to play in the Northwest Badminton Gala Day held at the Burnie Sports Centre.
The 9/10 Gala Day will be held on Friday, 15 August 2025. The competition will start at 10:00am and conclude at 2:00pm.
Wynyard Bus Lines will be transporting students to this event and students will be accompanied by members of our teaching staff. The school will supply a playing top and all necessary equipment. Students will need to wear shorts/pants and sandshoes suitable for physical activity.
Students will need to bring water and food to sustain them throughout the day, there will also be a canteen available to purchase food.
The Northwest Badminton Gala Competition is a great opportunity to have fun and learn how to play badminton, which is the third biggest sport in the world. Former Australian badminton coach, Lasse Bundagaard, will provide a coaching clinic in the morning, followed by matches in the afternoon.
It is free to participate in this event. All parents/guardians will need to sign their child up via the following link - Online Portal and complete the digital Consent to Participate. Consent will need to be returned by Wednesday, 13 August, so we can confirm numbers.
